Artist Talk and Book Signing with Simone Engelen
17 October | 15:00 - 15:30
During a year-long exchange at a high school in the United States, Simone Engelen was sexually assaulted by two of her peers. For years, she tried to push everything related to the experience away. In 2022, she decided to return with her mother. What followed was a road trip during which she used her camera as a filter. “It was only through the lens that I dared to look back at an experience that has profoundly shaped my life.” 27 Drafts traces a fragmented process of remembering, confronting and slowly finding words for what had remained unspoken for years.
On 17 October, we talk to Simone Engelen about her project and award-winning book, 27 Drafts.
27 Drafts has long been sold out. However, there is still a chance to get a copy on 17 October. Simone will be selling and signing the final copies from her personal collection.
