Dominique's favorites

BredaPhoto Ambassadors 2026

We asked the BredaPhoto Ambassadors to choose their three favourite exhibitions at BredaPhoto Festival. Below, Dominique shares her favourites and explains what made these exhibitions stand out to her.
Majd Arandas (1994-2023) - A Memorial in Fragments | Carré Chassé

I chose this work because it moved me beyond the beauty of the images. Each photograph and message feels like it holds thousands of unspoken words. Retrieved by his brother after his tragic death, Arandas’s images offer fragmented glimpses into his life, turning simple moments into a powerful and emotional memorial.

Olivia Arthur - Lee and the Sea Things | Carré Chassé

A powerful story that explores the reality of mental health and the heartbreaking battle against the “monster” called depression. Although difficult to fully understand, the story is told with a gentle and imaginative beauty, making it both moving and accessible for children and adults alike.

Simone Engelen - 27 Drafts

Pain transformed into art and a story that many women can resonate with. As Simone herself said, “27 Drafts traces a fragmented process of remembering and confronting, and of slowly finding the words for something that had remained unspeakable for years.” Despite the difficulty of confronting such a tragedy, she transforms her pain into something powerful and visible, reminding us that we are not alone and perhaps giving other women the courage to speak up too.
