Eva Kreuger The Living Studio
In the ongoing project The Living Studio, Eva Kreuger examines various elements of her stu-dio and relates these to the space itself and the continuous process of gentrification which studio spaces are subject to.
Based on collected archive photos and their own new work, they constantly create new worlds in their studio. By editing the archive images, she changes the perspective of the orig-inal images and transforms them into collages or sculptural forms. She elevates the concept of isolation to a visual metaphor and a working method. Kreuger isolates herself in their stu-dio and at the same time isolates components from their image collection. Small pieces of the chaotic outside world are deconstructed, investigated, and reconstructed.
For BredaPhoto, Kreuger has recreated a model of her studio, a deconstructed version in which fragments of stored works, materials and archive images enter into a dialogue with each other and the space. The spatial presentation of the work brings together yet another aspect of their work: the investigation of indoor and outdoor spaces and making the creative process visible that normally takes place outside of sight.
