Let’s Not Talk About Politics Anymore
The project came about after the 2024 European elections, when the artist and her father realized that their political views had fundamentally diverged. While the artist identifies with progressive politics, her father supports the AfD, a far-right political party that receives strong support in eastern Germany, the region where her family lives. The series focuses on everyday moments shared between father and daughter: familiar routines, domestic spaces, shared activities, and subtle gestures of closeness. Through photography, Lara searches for metaphors for their relationship, their conversations and the way she perceives her father.
Neither accusatory nor condemning, the work observes how distrust in politics, media, and democratic institutions reshapes personal relationships. How can we endure political differences without losing one another?
