Quinten Vermeulen Een oude ziel en een rosse kop
Based on a passionate interest in the way people make a home from their environment, Quinten Vermeulen steps into the world of a number of exceptional figures. With his photographic work, he explores the special dynamics that occur during the meeting between guest and host. Een oude ziel en een rosse kop (An old soul and a red head) shows the combination of poetic atmospheric images and penetrating portraits, interspersed with strong documentary photography. Vermeulen's images are formed at the point of contact between his own familiar world and that of the unknown other. The conversations between the photographer and the person photographed form the basis from which the story emerges. His camera is a connecting factor that turns the intruder into a visitor. Vermeulen works analogue, which creates more room for unexpected perspectives in the end result.
