Filmprogramme Vrije Vogels / Birds - Winged Migration

On the occasion of the exhibition Birds – through the lens of top international photographers by BredaPhoto and the Grote Kerk Breda, the Filmhuis Breda has put together a special film programme. For the duration of the exhibition, you can watch a film connected to the exhibition Birds every Thursday evening.

On Thursday night 30 November, we will screen the last film in the series:

Winged Migration (Le peuple migrateur)

Throughout the year, millions of birds migrate through the skies all over the world. They are all kinds of different species, from swallows to giant albatrosses, from geese to pelicans and from storks to small songbirds. They follow ancient, established routes, crossing oceans, deserts and mountains and completing unimaginable wanderings. These journeys have marked the succession of seasons since time immemorial. They give rhythm to advancing time and even to human life itself, down on the ground. Following birds, getting to know and understand better the laws and rules that underpin the dizzying treks of the flying creatures. This is the age-old dream that a group of filmmakers and ornithologists wanted to realise. Years of preparation and patience, the use of state-of-the-art technology, a lot of willpower and, above all, a youthful spirit were needed for this unique search for the ‘trekkers’.
