The story behind your photo

On Sunday 13 September, you can have your moment of ‘comfort and resilience’ immortalised. Bring along a photo – printed or digital – that represents comfort or resilience to you, and have a chat about it with the comic authors Nova de Hoo or Tânia A. Cardoso. One of them will turn your story into a comic right there and then. The illustrated stories will be displayed in the venue throughout the day, creating a living, evolving exhibition. At the end of the day, you can take your comic home with you.

Nova de Hoo graduated in 2023 from the Comic Design programme at the ArtEZ art academy in Zwolle in 2023. Since then, Nova has been making a name for herself through live drawing, 3D animations and comics for children’s magazines. Tânia A. Cardoso is a Rotterdam-based illustrator and storyteller with a background in architecture and urban planning. Her comics and illustrations have been published in, amongst others, le Monde Diplomatique and in publications by Nai010 Publishers.
