Call for Breda Residents

BredaPhoto and Pride Photo are joining forces to present Life Stories from 1 to 30 November 2025—a tribute to the life stories of queer individuals who courageously choose their own path, even if that only happens later in life. Through five compelling photo projects by international artists, new work by emerging photography students, and a striking outdoor exhibition, we aim to inspire and connect with a broad audience — queer individuals and allies alike — and to celebrate the richness of our shared diversity.

One special part of this project is a workshop, the results of which will be exhibited as part of Life Stories Photography students from the art academies St. Joost in Breda and KABK in The Hague will create new work under the guidance of artist Francesco Giordano, from the collective Mit Euren Spuren, and curators from Pride Photo and BredaPhoto. Their subject: people from Breda who are part of or connected to the queer community.

Six talented students have now been selected—and we are looking for Breda residents who would like to participate in this project and share their life stories with the students and the public. Interested in being involved? Read on!

The students will create a portrait of each participant—in the broadest sense of the word. Through one-on-one conversations (flexibly scheduled in August), participants will share their stories using memories, photo albums, and/or personal objects. The students will then transform these stories into photographic works, which will be exhibited as part of Lifelines in November in Breda.

The goal is to help local audiences get to know their fellow Bredanaars better—and, hopefully, foster greater understanding of lives that may differ from their own, or offer meaningful recognition and connection.

• People from Breda who are part of or feel connected to the queer community

• Who are willing to share their life story to create a meaningful, fitting portrait

• Who are available for two half-day sessions on Tuesday 5 August (approx. 13:00–17:00) and Wednesday 3 September (approx. 13:00–17:00), plus one flexible meeting with the student they are matched with, sometime in August

• Who like the idea of having their portrait included in the Lifelines exhibition from 1 to 30 November in Breda
